The United Nations Court recently ordered Japan to stop whale hunting. This is a welcome ruling, and one that all mermaids and mermen can applaud.
"The Australian government challenged the notion that Japan hunts whales for scientific study, which lead to Monday's ruling."

Dolphin Chat
Human/Dolphin communication took a small step forward in August of 2013 when a computer detected a specific dolphin whistle that had been created by Wild Dolphin Project creator, Denise Herzing, and her team.
"As well as boosting our understanding of animal behaviour, the moment hints at the potential for using algorithms to analyse any activity where information is transmitted – including our daily activities."
