As fans of H2O: Just Add Water know well, the full moon can do strange things. What if the full moon coincides with a total lunar eclipse? Fun!
If you have been following the news, you know that such an event is quickly approaching. The day is Wednesday, October 8th, and most of the world will get at least a partial viewing.
Learn more about this rare event, known as a selenelion, in an article at Space.com. And, merfolk, don't get too crazy out there!
Seafloor Map
This past Friday, researchers published "the most detailed map of the ocean floor ever produced."
The interactive map can be found in an article on io9, and you are invited to explore.
"Among the new features they're now able to detect, [geophysicist] Sandwell says, are thousands of previously unknown seamounts between 1000 and 2000 meters tall dotting the ocean floor."
Mermaid School
Here is another article on the mermaid school that opened recently in Europe. This one is from Cosmopolitan UK, and it appears that columnist Catriona Harvey-Jenner is ready to dive right in.
"Ever had one of those days when you've just had enough of walking round on your bog-standard two feet?"
Even if you read the related article in last week's blog post, this one is worth a look.
Best wishes and starfishes,
-Mermaid Cynthia
