Mermaid Chelsea

A number of Florida's Weeki Wachee mermaids will be visiting the Newport Aquarium through October 12th. The web site Cincinnati would like to introduce you to Mermaid Chelsea, one of the mermaids performing at the aquarium.

"People are often surprised that the mermaids keep their eyes open during their shows, sing, drink and eat underwater."

The Newport Aquarium is located just southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio. Driving directions can be found at the aquarium's web site.


Mermaid Mode

Ricoh has recently added a special mode their WG-40 series of cameras in order to allow photographers to take better photos underwater: Mermaid Mode.

"Ricoh says its R&D team studied the characteristics of images taken underwater, and produced a collection of settings to compensate for the optical losses that are typically incurred when working in sub-aqua environments."

The down side is that the camera are currently only available in Japan. We can hope that this will change in the near future.
