According to the Herald Scotland, LinkedIn now boasts 15 million UK users including five British mermaids. All professionals, including mermaids, need to stay connected.

"LinkedIn is the world's largest online professional network with more than 277 million members globally."

Mermaid Kyrin

Meet Christie, otherwise known as Mermaid Kyrin, a performer at the Tampa, Florida Renaissance Faire. In an article by friend Jen Yates, we are treated to a wealth of photos and a short Flash video of Mermaid Kyrin's unveiling at the faire.

"To avoid the inevitable barrage of questions, the crowd is informed that mermaids only communicate in little trills and squeaks, kind of like a dolphin, which is pretty stinking adorable."

Sailor Twain

Hold the (Shell)Phone, Sailor Twain is now available in paperback! Sailor Twain, or The Mermaid in the Hudson, is a wonderful graphic novel by Mark Siegel. Read this excellent review at Beth Fish Reads.

Splash Turns 30

Just a few days ago, the movie Splash turned 30. The movie was released on March 9, 1984 starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. While watching the movie, many humans discovered their mermaid/merman side. You might have been one of them!

In an article at People Magazine, Kelli Bender celebrates Splash's Mermaid Madison and eight other memorable mermaids from pop culture. The list includes Ariel, Aquamarine, and the mermaids of H2O: Just Add Water. Did she miss any?

The cast of Mako Mermaids is back with another peek at their upcoming second season, currently in production. In this short Video Log, Cam (played by Dominic Deutscher) introduces us to Erik, a solitary merman (played by Alex Cubis) with a mission of his own.

For more behind-the-scenes info on Mako Mermaids, swim on over to the Gold Coast Bulletin, where we find out that production for season two is planned to wrap up in July. Be patient, young mermaid.

University Mermaid

The University of Virginia has a mermaid! Third year student Hales Parcells always dreamed of becoming a mermaid. Now, Mermaid Hales is helping to teach area children about Chesapeake Bay conservation.

“Having a mermaid there draws the kids’ attention to the issue more than having someone just sitting and reading to them.”

A: Pay a visit to the Mako Mermaids Wiki, where you can find the lyrics to the show's theme song, I Just Wanna Be.

Q: Is Mako Island real?
A: No, sorry. It only exists on television, on Mako Mermaids and H2O: Just Add Water.


Weeki Wachee Springs

Weeki Wachee Mermaid Kylee

As they passed through Crystal River, Florida, Jenna Kvidt convinced her husband, Micah, to take a detour and visit Weeki Wachee Springs, the City of Live Mermaids... just 25 miles away!

"After all, The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie growing up and upon seeing this park featured on the Travel Channel when I was younger, I just knew I had to pay Ariel a visit one day when the opportunity presented itself."
