A Historic Tail

The Weeki Wachee Springs State Park mermaid show in Florida is seventy years old! In an article found at Smithsonian Magazine, we learn more about the history of the show. The article contains a number of great photos, some from as far back as the late 1940s when the shows began.

"Today, they’re never seen in the water without their tails, but in the early days of the show, 'mermaids' often performed in nothing but a swimsuit and flippers."

Thank you, Kat Eschner and The Smithsonian, for the informative article.

Gifts for Mermaid Fans

Have a few mermaid fans on your gift list? Looking for something special for yourself? A recent article at Islands features ten gifts for mermaid fans.

"Straighten your seashell bra and get ready to shop. From tails to tables, we've rounded up the 10 best gifts for the mermaid lover in your life."

The Mermaid Tail Blanket will come in handy on those cold January evenings while you are munching on seaweed tortilla chips. On an unrelated note, I have tried seaweed chips and did not become a fan. You have been warned.

Underwater Restaurant

Join me now as Stylist UK introduces us to the world's first underwater restaurant, featuring seafood of course.

"Quite possibly the most realistic mermaid dining experience yet, the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is an enchanting eatery which has been completely submerged in water."

How often do you get to dine 16-feet below sea level?

It's a Merb'y

Buzzfeed Canada brings us news that we will never forget... "Bearded dudes from Newfoundland and Labrador made a sexy mermaid calendar."

Get the full story on the Buzzfeed Canada Facebook page, and be sure to watch the one-minute video.

Thank you, Summer, for sharing this important news with me and my readers!
