Meet the UK MerFolk

David Gregory is a photographer in the United Kingdom. One of his recent projects is photographing the mermaids of the UK. Professional and amateur mermaids are everywhere, but in some places more than others.

"While relatively unheard of here in the UK, mermaiding has enjoyed a slightly broader appeal in the United States quite possibly because of the Weeki Wachee Mermaids."

Mr. Gregory's article at The Huffington Post is quite interesting, and includes some great photographs. There is also a merman in the collection.

Ten Facts About Jellyfish

The Guardian bring us an article by Ali Benjamin, who is deeply fascinated by jellyfish. This fascination was strong enough to inspire her book, The Thing About Jellyfish, targeted to children eight to twelve.

In this article, Ms. Benjamin shares ten facts about jellyfish. These ten facts may be useful to the ocean mermaids out there.

"Jellyfish sting humans at a rate of 150 million per year, which means that in the minute or so it’s taken you to read this far, nearly 500 people have been stung."

You can find The Thing About Jellyfish at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
