NC Merfest

This past weekend, merfolk and pirates from all over gathered in North Carolina for Merfest 2015. The Charlotte Observer covered the splashy story in an article by Andrea Weigl.

In addition to the usual mermaid/pirate convention activities, this year's event included the in-pool wedding of Cookie Ramirez (The Harlem Mermaid) to Ralph DeJesus.

Professional mermaid, Hannah Fraser, was on hand to meet everyone and answer questions.

More information on the annual convention can be found at the official web site.

If you attended this year's Merfest, please send me a photo and/or a few paragraphs of highlights, and I will share them in a future blog post.

Mermaids in Paradise

Over at the Barnes & Noble web site, we find a recent review of Mermaids in Paradise, the novel by Lydia Millet. The review by Veronique de Turenne begins at the first thing you will notice, the book's cover:

"Before we get into how funny Lydia Millet’s new novel is, funny and tart and yes, with a bit of a wobble, can we talk about the cover?"

The review makes for entertaining reading, and the novel promises to do the same.

Best wishes and starfishes,
